YouTube
YouTube is a video sharing platform owned by Google, and founded in 2005. It is the website whose videos are being preserved on RemovedEDM.
Recovery Methods
Please note: This only details information about re-uploads, not information about the original videos.
- As it is a video sharing website, re-uploads of removed videos are possible to be found, as well as virtually any other piece of metadata.
- Re-uploads which have been removed due to channel termination are recoverable using a private method, as long as the video's ID is known.
- Sometimes, a re-upload can have a title that does not match the original video, or use a title that is not easily searchable. This may cause issues with finding certain videos.
Vital Signs
- Re-uploads can be removed at any time, so they should NOT be assumed to be permanent, and should be saved accordingly. The same goes with thumbnails.
VK
VK, short for VKontakte, is a Russian social media platform, founded in 2006.
Recovery Methods
- A very large amount of video thumbnails (and by extension, some of their metadata; descriptions, durations, upload dates, etc.) can be found on VK, usually in
sddefaultandmqdefaultqualities, although they can span every thumbnail quality. - Occasionally, videos may be re-uploaded to VK in their entirety, although it is uncommon.

- Starting 2022, all removed YouTube videos disappeared from search results, and later all YouTube videos entirely disappeared from search results.
- Some videos may appear in
Yandex search results, as well as VideoBox.tv.
- Some videos may appear in
- Thumbnails on VK are very inconsistent, as (especially recently, as of June 2026) thumbnails may not display, and instead show an error, as well as many other problems.
- During 2023-late 2024, all removed YouTube video thumbnails were replaced with a trash bin icon and the text "Video deleted", making it impossible to retreive the video's thumbnail. This appears to have been reverted, but many signs indicate this may have not been intentional, so it should be treated with caution and any thumbnails found should be saved accordingly.
- All data on VK is very unstable, and accounts may be deleted or set to private unexpectedly, making the content inaccessible unless the direct link was saved externally. If it is a video, the video will be impossible to retrieve unless the owner adds you to their friends list, but per experience, this is highly unlikely to happen.
Pinterest
Pinterest is a visual search engine and social media platform that allows users to discover, save, share images and "pinned" videos, launched in 2010.
Recovery Methods
- A large amount of video thumbnails and minimal metadata can be found using the website's visual search feature.
- Occasionally, thumbnails may be crawled by search engines.
Vital Signs
- Due to thumbnails usually only being findable using the visual search function, many thumbnails are impossible to find using normal methods.
Twitter (now known as X)
Twitter, now called X, is an American social media platform owned by SpaceXAI, and founded in 2006.
Recovery Methods
- A very large amount of basic video metadata (e.g. video IDs and titles, sometimes upload dates and the uploader) can be found on Twitter (posts regarding adding the video to a playlist, liking the video, or sometimes favoriting the video; this used to be opted on by default if your Twitter account was tied directly to your YouTube channel), although most of these posts have disappeared as seen in the Vital Signs section below.

- As of June 2026, a lot of Twitter posts regarding basic video metadata have been removed due to a policy about deleting inactive accounts if there were no activity in the account for 2 years. Although ArchiveTeam's twitterstream collection exists, they are not accessible due to Internet Archive restricting the stream files for some reason.
- The twitterstream collection is mostly saved by
nixietubes , however the accessibility of their archive is questioned. - Additionally, many posts that previously displayed in search results have disappeared for an unknown reason, only now findable using the video title (in cases where the video title is in the post) or the video ID in some cases.

Filmot
Filmot is a specialized search engine that indexes YouTube video and its subtitles.
Recovery Methods
- A large amount of metadata can be found using the website's visual search feature.
Vital Signs
- This website only has metadata of a video if this video is available after late 2018.
Facebook is an American social media platform.
Recovery Methods
- A large amount of basic video metadata (e.g. video IDs and titles, upload dates and the uploader (if specified), sometimes even thumbnail and video) can be found.
- Descripton of the video can be found by using Meta Debugger.
Vital Signs
- Facebook search engine is working really horribly. There was a way to search for videos by their descriptions, however as of around late 2025 it doesn't work anymore and you can only search videos by their video ID (if known), or their video title.
